Here’s what he said:

“We have been very good to your country, very good. No other country has done as much as we have. But you know what? I don’t see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want.

“I have a favor I want from you though. I’m going to say this only seven times so you better listen good. I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent. Lots of it. On this and on that. I’m going to put you in touch with people, not just any people, I am going to put you in touch with the Attorney general, my Attorney general Bill Barr.

“He has the whole weight of the American law enforcement behind him. I’m going to put you in touch with Rudy. You are going to love him. Trust me.

“You know what I’m asking. So I’m only going to say this a few more times. In a few more ways. By the way, don’t call me again. I will call you when you have done what I asked.”

This is completely false.

And he got called out for making the conversation up.

Rep. Mike Turner slammed him for fabricating quotes from Trump’s phone call with the Ukraine President.

“… What else it’s not, it’s not the conversation that was in the Chairman’s opening statement,” Turner said.

“While the Chairman was speaking i acutally had someone text me: Is he just making this up? And yes, yes he was. Because sometimes fiction is better than the actual words of text.”

“Luckily, the American public are smart, they have the transcript. They’ve read the conversation, they know when someone is just making it up.“

Later, Schiff admitted it was a “parody.”

“The summary of the president’s call was meant to be at least part in parody. The fact that that’s not clear is a separate problem on itself. Of course, the president never said… Umm… If you don’t understand me i’m gonna say it seven more times. My point is, that’s the message that the Ukrainian president was receiving.”

Adam Schiff also faced backlash online for blatantly lying.

“Adam Schiff takes this so seriously he’s actually putting parody into the congressional record. What a joke.” wrote Katie Pavlich.

“Adam Schiff is unhinged. He has been completely consumed by hatred for @realDonaldTrump and is abusing every tool at his disposal to slander and attack the president. It’s clear this hearing is nothing more than an attempt to further Dem obstruction and resistance of POTUS.” tweeted Richard Walters.

“Dear Chairman Schiff, by making up quotes and attributing them to POTUS demonstrates how desperate you are” tweeted Jason Chaffetz.

“Adam Schiff is now doing a fictional retelling of the transcript. This is bizarre.” wrote Matt Walsh.
